I have a tax class where one of the questions is is it better to have only stock in a retirement account or only taxable bonds? any ideas??? At this point i think the taxable bonds should go in the retirement account because the coupon interest that is received twice a year is usually taxed at ordinary income tax rates and stock dividends would be at more favorable rates if they were not part of a retirement account. am i correct on this? any help would be great. thnx.

Which is better and why? Are they both pretty good choices?

Keep in mind that there’s a lot of people who simply do not earn enough money to contribute any decent amount of money to their employers 401k plans. Having said that, what if a person works 30 years and can’t contribute to an employers 401k plan, how will they live in their retirement years ?

My husband and I are considering moving into an active adult community once my mother passes away. We live out in the middle of nowhere right now to be near her, but we are very socialble. Plus, we have too much yardwork to do and are really tired of fighting a constant battle with it! http://www.suncity.com/Lifestyle/Default…

I saw the pictures on www.sunlakesofarizona.com of the community and did a little research on the five country clubs but can’t find anything comparable in the general area. The taxes and cost of living are very inexpensive. Real estate costs are very low compared to Boston. I want to compare with other over 40 (years of age) over 55 communities in the area, can’t find anything else and find that very surprising.
Sorry but I don’t trust real estate people for showing me what I want to see.

Do you know a good place to start when your employer is not doing retirement because you do not have enough hours? I dont feel like Social Security will be around when I get to the age to draw. That will be like in 2040 something.
