Best Towns To Retire

I am 32 and working as a real estate agent. I don’t have a retirement plan yet, people tell me to open a RothIRA or a simple 401k…i don’t know much about these things, any advice is appreciated.

I was told selling my house might be good financial move. Maybe it is. I don’t like where I live now. There are all these articles on where to retire to and I don’t know what to do. I want to go to a University town in a warm part of the US, preferably without hurricanes, tornados, or earthquakes. (I guess there is such an area) If it is not real warm in winter, but is semi-warm and maybe close to hot places, it would help. My family is small and spread all around the US – from NYC to Ohio to the SW. I am a widower and looking for a girl friend. My hobbies are photography, computers, naturism,gardening and all that old man stuff. Maybe I will buy an RV to see the USA. My age is over 70, but not much over and am healthy now. The place has to have good medical care and not be expensive for living. That includes housing as I want a house around $250,00 and reasonable cost of living. A good over 55 community with good social life would help a lot as I am isolated here in a bad spot.

The 401k at your employer should not be overlooked, espicially if you employer matches some of you contributions. Put in enough to get the full employer match.
The Roth IRA is probably better than the regular IRA. Although you fund the Roth IRA with after-tax earnings, the Roth IRA has the advantage of not having any taxes due when you withdraw the money.
Where you hold your IRA is very important. I think the most convenient is through a brokerage account like Fidelity or Schwab. Fidelity offers many Fidelity and non-Fidelity no-load mutual funds. All of the Fidelity and many of the non-Fidelity no-load mutual funds are “No Transaction Fee Funds”. You can also open a Roth IRA with any mutual fund company (Vanguard and T Rowe Price, for example).

hi LOOKING 4 55+ ACTIVE COMMUNITY THAT IS NOT VERY EXPENSIVE TO MOVE TO. I LIVE IN STATEN ISLAND, NY NOW & PRICES R VERY HIGH & I NEED TO MEET NICE PEOPLE. AFTER 37 YRS OF MARRIAGE & I’VE BEEN LIVING ALONE FOR OVER 2 YRS. IT’S VERY HARD MOVING SOMEPLACE WHERE u don’t no anyone. i am a Christian & would love to live in christian community. any advise will be appreciated.

I am reaching the age of 60 this year. The stock market has had a long bullish run. However, because of economic uncertainty and my age, I want to reposition my portfolio into a more defensive posture. I have read much advice recently but would like to hear from others who have personal experience with this or from anyone with ideas about defensive investments that might offer yields above bank CD rates.

business like statefarm offer IRA, i am in a IRA i am 23 i have been putting $50 a month in for over 2 years i have over $4,000. By the time i am 65 i should have over $150,000.

Were running out of time to save our social security benefits and besides saveing and investing I cant think of a way to keep the dry up from happening. What can the nation and we as personal people do to save social security, or make sure we have benifits when we get to that point?
